Tirana-Work continues for urban requalification of the center of Fier and rehabilitation of Gjanica River. This project is considered as one of the biggest project in the city in recent years.

This project is implemented by the Albanian Development Fund on behalf of the Albanian government and aims to transform the center of the city and Gjanica River in the most attractive part of the city. The city's central square is the meeting point of five city streets. The investment for the rehabilitation of these roads, the reconstruction of the square and Gjanica River has radically transformed the center of the southern city.

 

There are 60,000 square meters which are being transformed into urban and recreational spaces. Renovation of the facades of buildings around the square, construction of bicycle lanes, construction of an underground parking with 100 parking spaces are progressing with the same pace.

So far was completed the construction of escarpment of Gjanica River. During the construction of escarpment with concrete was changed the river flow.

Workers are continuing to lay up the tiles in the upper part of the escarpments and are building gardens. In addition to the reconstruction of the two existing bridges over the river; the project also foresees the construction of two new bridges: a motorway bridge and a pedestrian bridge.
