Reconstruction of “Erseke - Leskovik” road
The intervention aims regional and cross-border connectivity improvement in order to facilitate access to tourism potentials towards Permet region, expanding region’s tourism offer and increasing the opportunity for sustainable regional economic development.
Moreover, the reconstruction project aims to improve quality and movements’ safety, while it preserves existing road trail. The axis is 42km long, starting at 0.00 km from the cemetery of the city and it continues until the intersection of the road Leskovik - Dogana Tre Urat.
The existing road is mostly narrow, with difficult (dangerous) turns and extremely depreciated. In general, it has stability but in some certain segments is broken and the signalization is poor. More specifically, there are no signs, speed limits close to turns, road lines, as well as missing metal guards in dangerous cross areas etc.
The new asphalt’s width will be 5 m and the road will be widened along its entire length, on its right side. In the following, you can find the overall proposed interventions of the project:
- Construction of asphalt layers of the existing road
- Substrate construction (in layers with major damage);
- Road drainage solution;
- Construction of retaining walls;
- Construction of tombstones and structural works;
- Vertical and horizontal signage;
The road ‘Erseke - Leskovik’ connects both cities, but also it is a significant artery of Southeastern of Albania, starting from Tepelena - Përmet - Kolonje – Korçe, which include the movement of vehicles, inhabitants, goods etc.
The area has a rich natural landscape and it is the only connecting route for the inhabitants of the villages of Kolonja with the city of Erseka and further on with the area of Korça.
At the same time, this axis turns out to have a strategic dimension for the development of tourism in the regions of Përmet, Korça and Gjirokastra. Therefore, it did not only serve the residents of Erseka, but also all local and foreign tourists who visit the southeastern area of Albania.
