Sports and Adventure Tourism, 20 guides are trained on cycling tours in the cross-border region of Albania – Kosovo
In the framework of “Extension of ViP DinaricA in the CBC Albania- Kosovo " project, were organized a two-day training with focus enhancing the capacity to organize bicycle tours in the cross-border region Albania - Kosovo and exploring marked trails in this region
This project is funded by IPA funds, Albania-Kosovo Cross-Border Co-operation Program 2014-2020 and implemented by the Albanian Development Fund and Community Development Fund (CDF) from Kosovo
20 cycling guides from Tropoja, Shkodra and Tirana in Albania as well as from Gjakova, Junik, Prishtina, Peja in Kosovo were trained about safety instructions and organization of bike tours.The implementation of the project will increase attractiveness of the tourist offer in cross border area between Albania and Kosovo.
During an itinerary of 44 km, trained participants became familiar with: new techniques of running bicycle groups, interaction among participants, guides role, safety and care instructions and possible risks to be avoided during the movement for all participants.
This training was a great opportunity to promote cooperation between tour operators and independent tour guides operating in Albania and Kosovo. Participants will have the possibility to touch the identified paths which will be included in the itinerary of Via Dinarica. This trail starts from Slovenia and ends in Macedonia, passing through Albania and Kosovo.
The identified paths in Albania are also linked with “Valbona Tourism Development Center”. The latter is being transformed by the Albanian Development Fund into a professional center, serving tourists, local businesses, tourist agencies etc. This will boost promotion of tourist values, products and local cuisines.
