  1. Funding Details

    The above named client intends to use part of the proceeds of a loan from/grant administered by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (the Bank) towards the cost of the above named contract(s).

    Additional financing information:
    The Albania Infrastructure and Tourism-Enabling Project “the Project” is financed by the European Union through technical assistance and investments grants for a total amount of EUR 40 million, and by complementary sovereign loan facility provided by the EBRD to the Government of Albania. The Project is implemented by the Albanian Development Fund as executing agency (the “Client”) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (the “Bank”). The EU grants are identified by the EU in close cooperation

 

 

with the Albanian Development Fund.

Contracts will be subject to the Bank’s Procurement Policies and Rules and are open for participation for firms from any country, unless otherwise specified in the procurement documents. Donors may request certain conditions in relation to contracts financed with grant funds, which conditions will be specified in the procurement documents. Prospective participants should ensure their eligibility for contract award. Please contact the client for any questions in this respect.

2. Information on the Procurement Exercise

Contracts will be subject to the Bank’s Procurement Policies and Rules and are open for participation for firms from any country, unless otherwise specified in the procurement documents.

3. Other Information
The Site is located inside Berat Municipality.
The geographical position and the peculiarities of the natural conditions the territory of the municipality of Berat reconduct to a typical Mediterranean climate.
Berat is a city with about 65,000 inhabitants. The city was originally built as a fortress, on a rocky hill with a height of 187m above sea level, on the right side of the Osum river.
“Shkembi Road” connects Muzakë Topia street with Antipatrea street. It alignment passes passes through the Western side of the Berat castle and offers very fast access to it, starting from the intersection of the “Antipatrea” road with the “Stavër Naco” road. The ttal length of the Project road is 1.258km.
The first 370m of the existing road are paved with cobblestones, in very bed conditions. From progressive 0+370 m to progressive 0+780 the road is unpaved. From the beginning of Skembi road, at the connection with the “Antipatrea” road, up to the progressive 0+780 walls, fences and residential buildings are located on both sides, along the project road. The width in this section varies from 4 to 5 m. From the progressive 0+780 to the progressive 1+258, connection with Muzakë topia street”, the road appears very narrow and can only be accessed by pedestrians. The elevation of the project road axis varies from 59m to 180m above sea level.
The Riverbanks protection works along the Osum River is located at the junction between “Antipatrea” road and “Stavër Naco” road, on both sides of the Gorica Bridge, on the right bank of the Osum River and will have a total length of 220m. The main objective of this project component is to execute the best technical and cost/effective solution for the

 

realisation of a durable river protection, by stopping the progressive erosion of the riverbanks close to “Stavër Naco” road and of a section of “Antipatrea” road.
